About this Event
How have students and educators fought to make diverse histories part of the curriculum? This program explores the long history of educational activism and the struggle to include ethnic studies in schools and universities.
Participants will engage with Pursuit of Liberty—NYPL’s free curriculum guide that uses primary sources to examine how different populations have advocated for their rights—and explore related materials from the CUNY Digital History Archive (CDHA). The program will include small-group work with selected items, an introduction to the history of the Coalition for the Revitalization of Asian American Studies at Hunter (CRAASH), examples of classroom use, and a showcase of relevant NYPL research databases.
The session is designed to help educators consider how primary sources and archival collections can support inquiry into student activism, educational access, and the representation of diverse histories. Plus, sign up for a free library card before and after the program.
This program is one of the many free events hosted by The New York Public Library as it joins our nation in commemorating 250 years since the founding of the United States. Learn more.
