The real story of the "Boys of Boise" cases is coming home. Join us for a special 20th anniversary of the documentary called "the definitive work" on the Boise's 1955 gay crackdown.Twenty years ago, The Fall of ’55 premiered at Boise’s Egyptian Theatre, where the response was so strong that the screening filled to standing room only, with people turned away at the door.
On Wednesday, November 11, the documentary returns to Boise for a special 20th Anniversary screening at Idaho Film Society. This special screening will feature a newly remastered HD version of the film, offering a fresh opportunity to experience this important piece of Idaho history on the big screen.
The Fall of ’55 tells the story of Idaho’s notorious 1955 “Boys of Boise” scandal, when a police investigation into gay men triggered a wave of arrests and helped transform a community. It’s a story about injustice, courage, and the consequences of fear — a chapter of Idaho history whose relevance has never really faded.
Join filmmaker Seth Randal for a screening followed by a conversation about the film, the history behind it, and why these stories still matter.
