The Face of Black American Spirit
Join us for the opening reception of an affirming exhibition celebrating the beauty, dignity, and enduring spirit of Black Chicago. The exhibition brings 100 uplifting photographs by Photographer Mark Joseph into dialogue with Unrequited Love, a mystical painting commissioned by Fr. Larry Dowling and created by Chicago Artist and Exhibition Designer Haman Cross III. Led by Project Director Ada López and created through years of conversation with the Black Culture in Chicago Community Advisory Committee, the photographs reveal an authentic portrait of faith, family, creativity, perseverance, leadership, generosity, and joy.
