The Evil EyeFoundations of Baneful Magic
The Hearth Practitioners Series
Not every harmful magical influence begins with someone deliberately sitting down to cast something.
Sometimes it comes through envy. Jealousy. Resentment. Fixation. Malice. Sometimes even admiration can become intrusive when there is enough force behind the gaze.
That is where the conversation around the evil eye begins.
This workshop in The Hearth Practitioners Series looks at the evil eye as part of our broader study of baneful magic, harmful influence, protection, and response. We’ll look at what the evil eye actually is, how it has been understood across different traditions, how practitioners distinguish it from other forms of magical interference, and what to do when protection alone is not enough.
We’ll explore:
* what the evil eye is, and what it is not
* envy, jealousy, fixation, malice, and the magical gaze
* intentional versus unintentional harmful influence
* cultural understandings of the evil eye
* traditional and contemporary protective practices
* amulets, charms, symbols, cleansing, and warding
* recognizing unwanted influence without assuming every difficult interaction is magical attack
* uncrossing and removal when harmful influence is already present
* where crossing work overlaps with this conversation, and where it does not
* protection before the fact versus removal after the fact
* how to choose a response that actually matches the problem
As always, this is not a workshop built around collecting correspondences or copying a recipe.
The point is to understand how the work functions.
We’ll move from discussion into hands-on practitioner work so that participants can look at assessment, protection, removal, and remedial work with more clarity and purpose.
This workshop stands on its own. You do not need to have attended the previous Foundations of Baneful Magic or Curses, Jinxes & Hexes workshops to participate.
