When twenty-six-year-old Ellie Allister gets her heart broken and the future she felt was so certain begins to crumble, she feels like she is at a complete and total standstill. When they offer her the opportunity to quit her job and join them on a summer-long road trip down the Atlantic Coast to spread their parents’ ashes, Ellie seizes the opportunity to travel and try to figure out how to get her life back on-track. While Ellie expects a summer of adventure and distraction, what she doesn’t expect is to fall for Colby. But as her feelings for him grow and her friendship strengthens with the other Opal siblings, Ellie begins to suspect that there might be more to this road trip than any of them are telling her. About the Author:
I have been a high school English teacher for ten years and now teach a creative writing course to high school juniors and seniors. I have a bachelors degree in English and just finished up my coursework for my masters degree in Environmental Education. When I am not reading or writing, I am spending time with my family and my two massive dogs or cooking in what feels like the world’s smallest kitchen. THE ESSENCE OF OPALS is my debut novel.
