The Dava Way 50k is the dream stepping stone for marathoners edging into the ultra world and a fast, confidence boosting blast for seasoned ultrarunners chasing a PB. It’s no surprise Runner’s World named it one of the UK’s must-do ultras, and it recently bagged a RaceCheck Gold Award. Not bad for a “hidden” Scottish gem.Starting in Grantown-on-Spey and finishing in Forres, this point-to-point trail follows the old Highland Railway line, meaning beautifully runnable miles, blue skies, and that satisfyingly sneaky RD-designed detour at the end.
You’ll climb steadily to the Dava Summit (1050ft) - enough to keep things spicy - before rolling all the way to sea level. Expect a perfect mix of woodland, moorland, farmland and those wide-open Highland views that make you forget you’re working hard.
