🚴♀️An evening of inspiring tales from across the two-wheeled world, hosted by bike messenger turned ultra-endurance cyclist Emily Chappell and local cyclist Ben Dowman. This event is a joyous celebration of cycling and the freedom, opportunity, and adventure it brings to people. From ultra distance challenges to running errands around town, from cargo bikes to e-bikes to gravel bikes and tricycles... there’s something for everyone no matter how fast, far or often you ride. This year, we're delighted to welcome the one and only Lael Wilcox to Kendal!
A komoot ambassador, Lael is the Guinness World Record holder for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe by bicycle by a woman, setting the record in 2024 with an astonishing time of 108 days, 12 hours and 12 minutes. Most recently, she set out to challenge the overall record established by Mark Beaumont, but her attempt was unfortunately cut short after riding through Europe's extreme heatwave.
Lael's cycling journey began in her twenties when she started commuting by bike. She discovered ultra-distance racing in 2015, setting a women's record on the Tour Divide, the 2,745-mile route from Banff, Canada, to the US–Mexico border before becoming the overall winner of the 4,400-mile Trans Am Bike Race in 2016.
Beyond her own remarkable achievements, Lael is passionate about inspiring more people, especially women, to ride. Through women's adventure scholarships, bikepacking challenges and community events, she continues to encourage others to embrace adventure on two wheels.
We’ll be joined by Alex McCormack – a British ultra-endurance racer for Canyon x DT Swiss All-Terrain-Racing, focused on some of the world's toughest multi-day races and adventures in 2026. As part of Tailfin's R&D division, Alex combines serious appetite for big challenges with a refreshingly relaxed outlook: he rides for the joy of it, loves long days outdoors and believes bikes should always be fun. This April he broke the Seven Days Distance World Record - covering an astonishing 3826.47 km. We’ll screen the film about this record and hear more from Alex on stage.
Hear from photographer and filmmaker, Andy Donohoe, who has recently completed a 3000km journey by Brompton across southern Africa. Through his work he explores movement, landscape, and the culture that surrounds sport. He is also the founder of Rolling, a publication dedicated to cycling culture.
We will be announcing more speakers very soon…
Our event partners, Brompton, Tailfin, Komoot and Canyon are offering some incredible prizes – join us for the evening and be in with the chance of winning either a Brompton C Line bike, a Tailfin Carbon SpeedPack System, a komoot 12 month premium subscription for two people, or a £300 Canyon Adventure Kit.
