About this Event
The Creative Light Seeds Academy for Girls
This May is the launch of The Creative Lightseeds Academy for Girls which will be providing Creative Art Therapy sessions for girls in singing, dancing , acting , art and poetry. The aim of the sessions are to help build and promote self esteem, confidence, creative expression, team building, communication skills, life skills, reflective and critical thinking while creating a safe space that is fun, inspiring for teenage girls. It is also imperative to create healthy social spaces and groups that teenage girls can grow in and understand themselves while being a part of a positive peer group outside of school.
Sessions will be led by Creative Arts Therapist and Creative Practitioner Chia Phoenix who has been facilitating within the arts and youth sectors for the last 20yrs. She has worked in many educational establishments and arts organisations running creative workshops with young people from primary age right up to young adults in their 20s. She has had extensive experience in working with young people at all levels of learning as well as those with special educational needs and behavioural needs. Creativity has been used as a form of rehabilitation of many young offenders and young people at risk or vulnerable.
Accompanying Chia will be Tanya Edwards who is the founder of Fly High Workshops ( @Flyhighworkshops on instagram) who empower young people through arts combining self esteem practices that they can transfer into their everyday lives. Tanya will be leading singing and vocal sessions and installing self confidence to support the girls to use their voices in life confidently. Tanya has performed across the west end in many musicals and plays as well as toured internationally with artists such as Soul ll Soul.
Sessions will also include some light meditation, journaling worksheets from the 'Beauty Within' Journals created by Jenni Steele Founder of Project Yana (@projectYana on instagram) to support them to have some chill time after or before creating.
At the end of the term we shall share where parents/carers can come and see aspects of what the girls created, as being able to share their creative experience will be a great boost for their self esteem.
If you have a daughter , a younger sister, a friend, a granddaughter, a niece or a young person yourself who loves to be creative, want to find new ways to express yourself and build your self confidence, if you are having a tough time at school or making new friends or even if you just want to have a new hobby then…
