About this Event
Travel with us to Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula, one of the world’s blue zones, and discover the food and lifestyle traditions that support healthy aging.
In this hands-on cooking class, we’ll explore the traditional Nicoyan way of eating built around simple, nourishing foods like beans, corn, squash, fruits, and vegetables while learning why fiber, plant-based foods, and minimally processed ingredients are so important for our health.
But longevity is about more than what’s on your plate. We’ll also explore the Nicoyan traditions of natural movement, purpose (plan de vida), family, and community, and how these everyday habits can inspire healthier living here in Hawai‘i.
Come cook, learn, eat, and connect as we bring a little bit of the Nicoya lifestyle to our own table.
You’ll leave with:
- New recipes inspired by Costa Rican cuisine
- Practical nutrition tips for healthy aging
- Ideas for incorporating more movement into everyday life
- A little inspiration for finding more purpose and connection in your own life
