The Chaplin Project toob kokku kaks silmapaistvat džässkitarri virtuoosi – vennad Stochelo ja Mozes Rosenbergi, kes on tuntud oma erakordse improvisatsioonioskuse, tehnilise meisterlikkuse ning sügavalt juurdunud mustlasdžässi traditsiooni poolest. Aastate jooksul on nad esinenud maailma mainekaimatel džässifestivalidel, kontserdisaalides ja klubides, kujunedes žanri üheks mõjukamaks ja armastatumaks nimeks.
Projekti keskmes on legendaarse filmilooja ja helilooja Charlie Chaplini looming. Kuigi Chaplin on eelkõige tuntud oma ikoonilise „Vagabundi” tegelaskuju poolest, kirjutas ta ka hulga ajatuid ja kauneid meloodiaid. Rosenbergi vennad on võtnud need lood oma uue projekti lähtepunktiks, põimides Chaplini muusika virtuoosse improvisatsiooni ja gypsy jazzi traditsiooniga.
🎬 Projekt on seotud ka dokumentaalfilmiga „The Spirit of the Tramp”, mille lavastas Chaplini lapselaps Carmen Chaplin ning mis esilinastus 2024. aastal San Sebastiáni rahvusvahelisel filmifestivalil. Film uurib Charlie Chaplini roma juuri ning toob esile tema kultuurilise ja muusikalise pärandi.
Viljandi Kitarrifestivalil kõlab kava, mis ühendab Charlie Chaplini kõige kaunimad meloodiad Rosenbergi vendade virtuoossete seadete ja improvisatsioonidega – austusavaldus kinoajaloo suurkujule ja gypsy jazzi elavale traditsioonile.
Korraldaja jätab endale õiguse teha programmis muudatusi.

The Chaplin Project brings together two outstanding jazz guitar virtuosos – brothers Stochelo and Mozes Rosenberg, renowned for their extraordinary improvisational skills, technical mastery, and deep roots in the gypsy jazz tradition. Over the years they have performed at some of the world’s most prestigious jazz festivals, concert halls, and clubs.
At the heart of the project is the musical legacy of legendary filmmaker and composer Charlie Chaplin. While Chaplin is best known for his iconic “Tramp” character, he also composed many timeless and beautiful melodies. The Rosenberg brothers take these compositions as the starting point for a new musical journey, blending Chaplin’s music with virtuosic improvisation and the vibrant tradition of gypsy jazz.
🎬 The project is also connected to the documentary The Spirit of the Tramp, directed by Chaplin’s granddaughter Carmen Chaplin, which premiered at the San Sebastián International Film Festival in 2024. The film explores Chaplin’s Roma roots and highlights his cultural and musical heritage.
At the Viljandi Guitar Festival, audiences will hear a program that combines some of Charlie Chaplin’s most beautiful melodies with the Rosenberg brothers’ virtuosic arrangements and improvisations – a heartfelt tribute to one of cinema’s greatest figures.
