About this Event
Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. Two in three of us will be diagnosed by the age of seventy, killing an average of one of us every six hours. Thankfully, over 98% of cases can be successfully treated if detected early, which is what Skin Check Champions is all about.
We are a community driven national movement built on a simple belief: access to early detection should never be a barrier, no matter where you live or who you are.
The charity started after our mate Wes Bonny was killed by a suss looking spot on his neck at the age of 26, since then we've grown into one of the largest early detection charities in the world, earning over 460M global media impressions, building a 70,000+ social media community, and delivering over 36,000 skin checks to people in underserviced and high risk communities. Detecting over 660 potential melanomas and thousands of other skin cancers, saving Australia's healthcare system over $50M and countless families the tragedy of losing a loved one.
The Champions Ball is where we celebrate our impact and forge relationships and fundraising to achieve so much more. We chose the SCG because of it's iconic heritage of champions, and it happens to have one of the biggest scroreboards in Australia - which will all make sense on the night where we'll be making a very special announcement...
By attending you'll be joining our illustrious list of corporate partners, ambassadors, government, researchers, media, and everyday Champions for an evening of celebration, connection, and real, visible generosity.
Every ticket, every table, and every bid goes straight back into funding free access to skin cancer checks, clinical development, training and the infrastructure Australia needs to eliminate our 'national cancer'.
This is not a traditional gala. It's a live celebration of lives already saved, and the lives we will save together.
