We are excited to bring Not So Silent Cinema back to the theater to perform live music accompaniment set to the silent classic THE CAT & THE CANARY on October 14th! Performed with strings and piano, NSSC’s score playfully blends comic charm and gothic suspense, moving seamlessly between dramatic mystery motifs and classic horror flourishes to enhance this beloved silent classic. 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀: countytheater.org/specials𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: This landmark silent film has been noted as being the first feature-length horror-comedy. Set in a decrepit mansion, a family gathers to hear the reading of a wealthy patriarch’s will when a deranged lunatic known as “the Cat” holes up in the house and begins slowly killing off the greedy inhabitants. The film that kickstarted Universal’s horror blueprint throughout the 1930s. THE CAT AND THE CANARY is a spine-chilling gothic whodunit with dark humor and memorable imagery courtesy of German Expressionist filmmaker Paul Leni. Silent w/ live accompaniment.
