Described by The Strad as presenting ‘a masterclass in unanimity of musical purpose, in which severity could melt seamlessly into charm, and drama into geniality’, the award-winning Carducci Quartet is internationally acclaimed as one of the most accomplished and versatile ensembles of today. For this concert celebrating the 90th birthday of American Minimalist Philip Glass, they will play two of his quartets (nos 3 and 9) and, in the second half, Different Trains, a ground-breaking piece for string quartet and tape by Glass’ contemporary Steve Reich.
