About this Event

Presented by Canadian Friends of Shalva:
The Campaign: Disinformation in a Time of War

Using the Israel-Hamas war as its central lens, The Campaign examines how propaganda, disinformation, social media, political interests, traditional journalism, and algorithm-driven outrage collide to shape public understanding of one of the most polarizing conflicts of our time.

Led by author and political strategist Warren Kinsella, the film travels across North America and Israel, speaking with journalists, political figures, academics, activists, survivors, military voices, and people whose lives have been directly affected by the conflict. Rather than presenting Israelis, Jews, Palestinians, journalists, or political movements as monoliths, the film deliberately embraces contradiction—allowing competing perspectives and uncomfortable questions to coexist. At its heart, The Campaign is not an attempt to tell audiences what to think about Israel and Gaza. It asks something broader and increasingly urgent: How do we know what to believe?

The film investigates the machinery through which narratives are created and amplified, from organized propaganda and ideological indoctrination to viral misinformation and the collapsing distinction between journalism, activism, and influence. It also turns its scrutiny inward, examining criticism of Israel and its government alongside the failures and vulnerabilities of the institutions tasked with informing the public. In an era when a social-media post can reach millions before a journalist can verify a fact, The Campaign argues that media literacy has become an essential democratic skill.

Ultimately, the film is a call not for censorship or ideological conformity, but for curiosity, accountability, critical thinking, and the courage to remain in conversation when the world increasingly demands that we choose a side.
