Sun. December 20 | 4:00 PMExperience Buster Keaton’s classic silent comedy THE CAMERAMAN (1928) with a live musical score performed by acclaimed composer and pianist Makia Matsumura.
Keaton stars as a hopelessly in-love, hilariously clumsy man who decides to become a motion-picture cameraman in hopes of getting closer to the woman he adores, who works at MGM Studios. What follows is a wonderfully chaotic journey filled with romance, physical comedy, and classic Keaton ingenuity.
Composer and pianist Makia Matsumura has built a dynamic career spanning film scoring, concert music, and live silent-film accompaniment. Her music has been featured on ABC News, NHK, Turner Classic Movies, and Netflix, and she has performed at prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, Musikverein in Vienna, Konzerthaus Berlin, NHK Hall, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
Since discovering the art of silent-film accompaniment in 2003, Matsumura has become one of the most sought-after pianists in the field. Her performances have taken her to MoMA, the Film Society of Lincoln Center, the Library of Congress, and the National Film Archive of Japan.
Join us for a special afternoon of classic cinema brought vividly to life through live music.
