ABOUT THE FILM
Five college friends escape to a remote cabin in the woods for a weekend away, but their getaway quickly turns into something far more sinister than they could have imagined.
Released in 2012 and directed by Drew Goddard, The Cabin in the Woods takes the familiar setup of a group of young people isolated in the wilderness and turns it completely on its head. What begins like a classic cabin-in-the-woods horror movie gradually reveals a much larger—and much stranger—story unfolding behind the scenes.
Starring Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, Richard Jenkins, and Bradley Whitford, the film blends horror, comedy, monsters, gore, and decades of genre conventions into a wildly inventive celebration of horror itself.
With its unpredictable twists, memorable creatures, dark humor, and affection for everything from slashers to supernatural horror, The Cabin in the Woods has become a modern cult favorite—and the perfect movie to experience outdoors with a crowd.
Whether you're seeing it for the first time or already know what waits beneath the cabin, join Screamfest for one unforgettable night of horror at McGroarty Arts Center.
