This autumn, we explore the horrors of womanhood through three very different books. Moving from the uncanny body to the monster and, finally, transformation, we’ll examine how literature and mythology have imagined and feared women’s bodies, desires, anger and identities.

Pt. 2: In Defence of Witches
This is our non-fiction month and we think it's much more interesting than choosing a feminist academic text about horror.
This books argues that the aftermath of the witch hunts continues today: the same reasons for which women were demonized in the past – being single, ageing, deciding to not have children – lead them to be persecuted now.
So October becomes our Halloween reading, but also the theoretical heart of the season.
What to Expect:
This is not a space for perfect interpretations or polished opinions.
We gather to:
– speak closely, or simply listen
– explore desire, boundaries, and self-definition
– sit with ambiguity rather than resolve it too quickly
– connect literature with lived experience
Expect a conversation that drifts between the personal and the political, the intimate and the collective.
