This autumn, we explore the horrors of womanhood through three very different books. Moving from the uncanny body to the monster and, finally, transformation, we’ll examine how literature and mythology have imagined and feared women’s bodies, desires, anger and identities.

Pt. 1: Her Body & Other Parties
Earthy and otherworldly, antic and sexy, queer and caustic, comic and deadly serious, Her Body and Other Parties swings from horrific violence to the most exquisite sentiment. This is the perfect opening because it takes the feminist body and makes it uncanny.
Machado's collection moves between horror, fantasy, sexuality and realism, using the monstrous to expose very real forms of violence and control over women's bodies.
What to Expect:
This is not a space for perfect interpretations or polished opinions.
We gather to:
– speak closely, or simply listen
– explore desire, boundaries, and self-definition
– sit with ambiguity rather than resolve it too quickly
– connect literature with lived experience
Expect a conversation that drifts between the personal and the political, the intimate and the collective.
