About this Event
Come celebrate Yalda ( the Birth of Light) one of the most ancient celebrations of Persia, rooted in traditions that reach back thousands of years.
Yalda marks the winter solstice, the longest and darkest night of the year. In ancient Persian tradition, this powerful turning point was connected with Mitra (Mithra), associated with light, the sun, truth, and covenant. As the longest night comes to an end and the days begin to grow longer, Yalda celebrates the Birth of Light, renewal, and the triumph of light over darkness.
This special evening brings the spirit and ancient traditions of Yalda to life through live music, sacred rituals, poetry readings, candle dance, traditional and sacred dances, storytelling, and more.
Come experience an evening of Persian culture, music, poetry, ritual, and dance as we honor Yalda, Mitra, and the Birth of Light.
