About this Event
Join Dr Julia Hoggard for an engaging and informative talk exploring the fascinating world of bees, the practice of beekeeping, and the vital role these remarkable creatures play in our natural environment.
Julia and her husband, Martin, run Brigsteer Bee Reserve, a 17-acre nature reserve managed to support bees and other wildlife. With flower-rich meadows, pasture and bee-friendly woodland, the reserve provides a haven for pollinators. Julia and Martin also run beekeeping courses to raise funds for the ongoing care and management of this special place.
Taking us through a year in beekeeping, Julia will share insights into the seasonal life of a beekeeper, explore the challenges facing bee populations, and explain how we can all help bees thrive. Discover practical ways to support pollinators in our gardens and communities, as well as how land can be managed to create rich, bee-friendly habitats.
Whether you’re a keen gardener, a nature enthusiast or simply curious about these incredible insects, this talk promises to offer plenty of fascinating insights and inspiration.
