The NHSA now returns, after a long break, to study the Spanish Civil War, and specifically the Republican success against the Italian Corpo Truppe Volontarie at Guadalajara. We are delighted to welcome back Colonel Ray Wilkinson as our speaker. He is a retired Regular and Army Reserves Officer and an accredited member of the International Guild of Battlefield Guides and the Guild’s Chief Validator. He is a former Council Member of the Army Records Society and is deeply interested in the actions of the International Brigades during this conflict. He has been leading tours to Spanish Civil War battlefields since 2007. Ray’s talk will focus on the success of the International Brigades in repelling the Italian Black Shirts’ major offensive near Madrid in 1937. The talk will commence at 9.30 am on Satruday 5 December 2026 at 24 Kingfisher Court, Newbury RG14 5SJ and be accompanied by an exhibition and a simulation of part of the battle in 1/35 scale. Please contact Philip Marshall on 07946041733 if you would like to attend.
