The Running Kind presents another epic mountain challenge for any level of runner or hiker - The Basilisk!The Basilisk is known among legends as the serpent king [ or queen ] and is truly a creature of immense power. This race is designed to test runners and hikers to find their power, step by step, while climbing up a double-black diamond slope at one of Pennsylvania’s most popular ski resorts, Camelback. You won’t find it surprising that this is one of two double black diamond ski slopes at the resort and the name of the one we’ve selected to run our course on is The Basilisk.
Runners and hikers can select from a multitude of distances and styles of racing, all of which will take place over a 2.5 mile loop covering just under 900ft of elevation gain and descent. You can take on the Baby Basilisk which will be a single loop or you can opt in for more! There will be options for a 5 mile [ 2 loops ] or a 10 mile [ 4 loops ]. The 10 mile will also have the option of being run in teams of two. The strategy is up to you. The only rule is that only one runner can be on the course at a time. Take on the 10 mile and cover nearly 3600ft of elevation change.
