About this Event
Youth Drama For All (YDFA) in collaboration with The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA), presents the San Francisco Bay Area movie premiere of ‘The Autograph King.’
The Autograph King is an inspiring documentary about Shamim Dana, a young man with cerebral palsy and autism whose passion for collecting autographs has opened the door to extraordinary experiences and friendships. Directed by Scott Zakarin, whose work includes Stan Lee’s Mutants, Monsters & Marvels, this feature documentary follows Shamim on a journey that goes far beyond collecting signatures. For Shamim, the real excitement comes from meeting the people behind the autographs, hearing their stories, and making new friends.
Behind Shamim's remarkable journey is the unwavering love and support of his wife, Christi, and family, who encourage his dreams, celebrate his achievements, and help him pursue his passions. Filled with humor, heart, and unforgettable moments, The Autograph King celebrates Shamim's determination, infectious enthusiasm, and remarkable ability to bring people together. His journey offers a powerful reminder that our greatest connections often begin in the most unexpected ways.
Evening Schedule
The evening will begin with a brief welcome, followed by the approximately 80-minute documentary. After the screening, guests will enjoy a 10–15-minute Q&A with Shamim Dana and filmmaker Scott Zakarin, followed by light refreshments and an opportunity to connect with others in the community.
A Special Connection to Youth Drama For All
Shamim has a special connection to the Bay Area and to Youth Drama For All, having participated in several of YDFA’s inclusive theatrical productions. This screening offers an opportunity to welcome him back and share his remarkable story with the community.
“Shamim has been part of our YDFA family since 2012, and we’re delighted to help bring his story back to the community. We hope this film inspires people to look beyond disabilities and recognize the remarkable potential in every individual.”
