About this Event
What catches your eye?
We often move through our everyday lives without really stopping to look. In this creative painting workshop, we take a moment to slow down, observe and discover the beauty in the ordinary.
Bring a photo of something that recently caught your eye. It can be anything: a person walking their
dog, a building, a street scene, an interesting detail or a moment you simply found beautiful. It doesn't have to be a "perfect" photo, it just needs to mean something to you or spark your curiosity.
Together, we'll explore what you see, what you feel and which colours, shapes and forms stand out to you. From there, you'll translate your photo into your own artwork.
There is no right or wrong way to do this. Your work can be realistic, abstract or somewhere inbetween. You don't have to follow a certain style. The goal is to experiment, trust your instincts anddiscover your own way of creating.
Whether you already love to paint or haven't picked up a brush in years, this workshop is an invitation to look at the everyday a little differently, and turn what you see into something of your own.
Core:
Learning to pay attention to everyday life and translating personal observations into art.
Each edition starts with a different question. Participants are invited to keep this question in mind in
the days or weeks before the workshop and bring a photograph that answers the question in their
own way. The photograph can be anything: a person, a place, a building, an object, a detail or an
everyday moment.
Structure:
1. A central question
2. Participants bring a personal photograph
3. Explore what they see and feel (What do you see? What catches your eye? Which colours
stand out? Which shapes and forms do you notice? What do you feel?)
4. Translate those observations through colour, shape, composition and artistic choices
5. Create freely, realistic, abstract or somewhere in between
6. Focus on experimentation and confidence rather than perfection.
The goal is not to recreate the photograph, but to discover a personal way of interpreting it.
Look. Feel. Create. Don't overthink it. Experiment first, make choices and refine later. The workshop is therefore not only about creating an artwork, but also about building confidence and encouraging people to keep creating.
