About this Event
The Art of Enterprise Tech Scoping and Discovery
Most enterprise tech projects don’t go wrong during the build. They go wrong a few weeks earlier, in scoping, when everyone nods along in the room and walks out with a slightly different idea of what problem is being solved.
Getting that part right is a craft, and it rarely gets talked about openly. This session is about how experienced people actually do it: how they get past the stated request to the real business problem, who they’re really talking to in the room, and how they turn all of it into a scope, timeline and cost that still holds up once delivery starts.
We’re lucky to have Muhammed Salman Jameel leading it. Salman is an Enterprise Tech Solutions Consultant with over 15 years of experience rolling out technology platforms across the US, the Middle East and Canada, which means he has scoped this kind of work in very different markets, with very different buyers.
🌟 What We’ll Do Together
The Art of Scoping
Salman will walk through his approach to scoping, then open it up to the room. Expect a conversation rather than a lecture, with the questions that don’t have tidy answers left in.
What we’ll cover:
- Uncovering the real business problem: getting past “we need a dashboard” to what’s actually broken
- Buyer personas: who signs, who uses it, who can quietly stall it, and what each of them cares about
- Understanding KPIs: tying the work to numbers the organization already tracks, so the benefit case isn’t a guess
- A scoping framework: a repeatable way to go from first conversation to scope, timeline and cost
- Use cases: real examples of scoping done well, and a few where it went sideways
👥 Who Is This For?
- Product managers and business analysts who scope work for a living
- Solution consultants, sales engineers and presales folks
- Founders and small agency owners implementing or selling to mid-size and enterprise clients
- Engineers and architects who get handed a scope and want to know where it came from
- Career switchers and students curious what presales, consulting and product roles actually involve
No specific background required. If you’ve ever sat in a kickoff meeting wondering how the plan got decided, you belong here.
💡 What You’ll Walk Away With
- A clearer way to run your next discovery conversation
- Questions worth asking early, before they get expensive
- A working sense of how personas and KPIs shape scope
- A framework you can adapt to your own projects
- Conversations with people who scope and deliver this kind of work every day
