The Art of Block Printing
Ready to get creative?
Join us in person for a fun and hands-on workshop where you'll learn the ancient craft of block printing. Design and print your very own tote bag, cushion cover, or tea towel with traditional Indian wooden printing blocks and colourful non-toxic inks.
No experience needed – just bring your enthusiasm and get ready to make something unique and artsy!
This workshop is hosted by Jitna, an avid block printer and the founder of , a social enterprise with a mission to create fair employment for women from marginalised communities.
Each ticket includes:
- A handmade textile of your choice to print on; choose from a tea towel, tote bag, or cushion cover, each lovingly crafted by our artisan partners in India
- A brief introduction to Shakti.ism’s mission and social impact, supporting and empowering women artisans across South Asia and further across the Global South
- A deep-dive into the history and technique of block printing, one of the world’s oldest and most beautiful textile traditions
- A chance to experiment with our vast collection of handmade traditional Indian printing blocks, play with eco-friendly inks, and create your own unique designs
- A snack to fuel your creativity
- A warm, creative, community atmosphere – and a meaningful handmade piece to take home or gift
