The Art of Hope begins with a kickoff reception on Friday, October 9, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. This ticketed event will offer an evening of food, drinks, music, and community connection while celebrating the creativity and accomplishments of the artists featured in the show. Guests will have the opportunity to view and purchase artwork, meet participating artists, connect with members of the Crossroads Community team, and spend time with other supporters and art enthusiasts from across the community.Artwork purchased during the event directly supports the artists, with proceeds from each sale going back to the individual who created the piece. The reception is designed to be both a celebration of artistic expression and an opportunity to bring people together around mental health awareness, creativity, and hope.
Following the Friday evening reception, The Art of Hope will continue as a free, non-ticketed open gallery from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Monday, October 12, and Tuesday, October 13. Community members are welcome to stop in during gallery hours to explore the artwork at their own pace, learn more about the program, and purchase available pieces. Artwork will remain available for purchase throughout the open gallery days.
At the heart of The Art of Hope is a program that gives individuals with behavioral health needs meaningful opportunities to explore and express hope through creativity. Through painting, drawing, and other forms of visual art, participants can reflect on their experiences, express emotions that may be difficult to put into words, build confidence, develop coping skills, and connect with others in a supportive and therapeutic environment. Art can provide a way to recognize progress, imagine new possibilities, and give form to the hope that is often an important part of recovery.
The program is enhanced through our partnership with the Choptank Tolomato Legacy Project, led by artist and educator Jimmy Reynolds. With extensive experience working with individuals with diverse learning needs, Jimmy brings an inclusive, hands-on approach that encourages creativity, personal growth, and continued engagement in the arts.
