Join us for “The Art of Dance,” featuring Houston-based FLY Dance Company, where street dance meets classical music—and much more. The company presents a wide range of performances and engages communities through educational shows, dance workshops, lecture-demonstrations on topics such as cyberbullying and healthy eating, and residencies.
FLY’s signature style, “theatrical hip hop,” combines dance with acting as an essential element. Since 1992, the company has brought this energetic style to audiences worldwide, with notable appearances at Washington’s Kennedy Center, Miller Outdoor Theatre, Jacob’s Pillow, the Vail International Dance Festival, Lincoln Center, and the Bob Hope Theater. This all-ages event will fill the Nia Cultural Center gallery with pop, soul, hip hop, and dance.
