About this Event
The Art of Being Heard
Storytelling Through Theatre
Everyone has a story. But what makes someone listen?
Whether you’re presenting an idea, navigating a difficult conversation, leading a team or simply connecting with another person, storytelling shapes how we understand and are understood.
But a compelling story isn’t just about finding the right words.
What happens when we change our perspective? When silence communicates more than speech? When the same story is experienced differently by different people?
The Art of Being Heard is a free, three-hour experiential workshop that explores these questions through the practice of theatre.
Drawing on theatre pedagogy, physical storytelling and collaborative exercises, we’ll investigate how stories are constructed, communicated and interpreted.
This isn’t a lecture on public speaking or a traditional acting class. It’s an opportunity to learn by doing, experimenting and discovering.
What will you explore?
- The power of perspective: Discover how the same event can tell completely different stories.
- Beyond words: Experiment with movement, silence and physical expression to communicate meaning.
- The art of listening: Explore the difference between what we intend to communicate and what others actually hear.
- Making stories matter: Learn how to structure narratives, create moments of change and hold an audience’s attention.
- Finding your voice: Develop greater awareness of how you communicate and connect with others.
Who is this workshop for?
Professionals from all backgrounds, including educators, managers, creatives, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals and anyone curious about becoming a more intentional communicator.
No acting experience is necessary.
You won’t be expected to perform publicly or share personal experiences you’re uncomfortable discussing.
Just bring your curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
What will you take away?
By the end of the session, you’ll have explored practical storytelling techniques, experimented with different ways of communicating and developed a short story using the tools discovered throughout the workshop.
More importantly, you’ll leave with a different understanding of what it means to tell a story and to be heard.
