About this Event
The Art & Science of Siphon Coffee
with Yannis Cheng
Siphon coffee is more than a visually striking brewing method. Behind the theatre of vacuum brewing is a precise relationship between heat, pressure, extraction, agitation and time.
As part of Brewtiful Festival 2026, join Yannis Cheng, Co-founder of Lazzy Project and World Siphonist Championship Judge, for an intimate 90-minute workshop exploring both the science and craft of siphon brewing.
Rather than simply following a fixed recipe, Yannis will guide participants through the principles that allow you to understand, adjust and ultimately build a siphon recipe around the coffee in front of you.
What you'll explore:
- Master the Siphon — Understand vacuum, pressure and heat control and how they influence brewing.
- Control the Extraction — Explore the relationship between grind size, water temperature, agitation and brew time.
- Build Your Recipe — Learn how to adjust brewing variables according to taste instead of simply following numbers.
- Brew & Taste with Yannis — Put the concepts into practice through hands-on brewing and sensory evaluation.
This workshop is designed for coffee enthusiasts, home brewers, baristas and coffee professionals who want to better understand siphon brewing and develop a more intentional approach to extraction.
