When three American doctors-Palestinian, Jewish, and Zoroastrian-enter Gaza to save lives, they find themselves caught between medicine and politics, risking everything to expose the truth. What happens when the effort to save lives becomes entangled with politics? The documentary American Doctor follows three American doctors—Palestinian, Jewish, and Zoroastrian—who enter Gaza to provide medical care. As they work to save lives, they confront the realities of a humanitarian crisis and risk everything to expose what they witness.
Taking the film as a starting point, LawTransform – Centre on Law and Social Transformation invites you to a breakfast seminar on the situation in Gaza and the implications of blocking medical aid. The conversation will explore how access to essential care is shaped by political decisions, and what this means for civilians and those seeking to assist them. It will provide a space to reflect on the connections between humanitarian assistance, political responsibility, and the protection of human life.
