Before morning tea, you are invited to join me for an optional bush walk around White’s Hill Reserve from 8:00am to 9:15am.
White’s Hill is home to one of Brisbane’s largest populations of koalas, so if you keep your eyes open - you might spot one along the way! 🐨

From 9:30am to 11:00am, we’ll gather at White’s Hill Café for a relaxed morning tea.
Each guest will receive a drink of their choice from the café and morning tea will be provided.
There will be plenty of time to chat, connect and enjoy the company of other adopted people in a welcoming setting.
𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑙𝑘, 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐴𝑑𝑜𝑝𝑇𝐸𝐴, 𝑜𝑟 𝑏𝑜𝑡ℎ. The walk is completely optional.
This year, The AdopTEA event that I am hosting falls on 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝑴𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝑫𝒂𝒚, 10 October, and the World Federation for Mental Health 2026 theme is:
“𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝: 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞”
I feel that this theme is particularly poignant for adopted people.
Adoption is a lifelong experience, and the voices and lived/living experiences of adopted people have not always been heard, understood or included in conversations about adoption, family, identity and wellbeing.
The AdopTEA provides an opportunity to change that - by creating space for adopted people to connect, share experiences and simply be heard by others who get it.
