The 5th International Humanities–Society–Identity Congress: (Un)certainties and (Re)inventions Programme Committee is looking forward to welcoming you to Warsaw on December 2–4, 2026.This year’s Congress engages with the critical challenges of our time, exploring the global consequences of technological acceleration, epistemic fragmentation, artificial intelligence, and the ethical, political and social conditions shaping contemporary human experience. The Congress invites reflection on how uncertainty, vulnerability and transformation redefine not only the humanities as a field of inquiry, but also the very notion of the human itself.
Special attention will be devoted to the crisis and reinvention of narrative, poetic and cultural forms, as well as to storytelling understood as a transhistorical dispositif capable of reconfiguring time, space and collective imaginaries in moments of rupture and instability.
The Congress programme will comprise plenary lectures, general sessions and thematic panel sessions. We welcome proposals for individual research papers as well as panel sessions addressing specific conceptual, methodological and geo-cultural perspectives. The main sessions and debates will be held in English. The languages of panel sessions depend individually on their organisers. The Congress will be held in the form of traditional in-person sessions at the Faculty of Modern Languages, University of Warsaw.
We are also pleased to invite BA and MA students to actively participate in the Congress. In response to the growing engagement of students in academic research and discussion, the programme will once again include panels dedicated to student presentations.
Key dates:
- 16 February-31 March: Submission period for proposals of thematic sections
- 15 April: Publication of the CFP for abstracts addressed to the approvedthematic sections and to a general session dedicated to early-career researchers
