About this Event
Do you know what to do before & after your child or loved one with a disability graduates from the special education system to avoid being in a catch-22? Every Step of the Way Resource Center is hosting the 2nd Annual Catch-22 Resource. Join ESW for the 1ST of its kind public resource fair in the Chicago proper area exclusively for individuals with disabilities ages 18 & up. The purpose of this resource fair is to provide various essential community resources specific to adults with intellectual, developmental, & mental health disabilities in one setting, since many resources become minimal starting at age 18 & when special education entitlements end at age 22. Adults with disabilities, parents, guardians, caregivers, family, & friends of adults with disabilities, & professionals who serve adults with disabilities are highly encouraged to attend. Parents & guardians of individuals with disabilities who are middle & high school age are encouraged to attend to prepare for transitioning & aging out of the special education system. All are welcome, since some services are across the lifespan. This event will be held at the Ridge Park District Fieldhouse located at 1817 W. 96th Street (off 96th & Longwood Ave) Chicago, IL. 60643 from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.The leading agencies & community resource & business vendors from the city, state, & Chicago suburbs will be in the building to give out free resources & items for adults with intellectual, developmental, & mental health disabilities.
