About this Event
Music and lyrics by William Finn and a book by Rachel Sheinkin, conceived by Rebecca Feldman with additional material by Jay Reiss, originally directed on Broadway by James Lapine. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
The show portrays a fictional spelling bee in which six quirky adolescents—played by adult actors—compete under the supervision of three equally offbeat grown-ups. Content warning: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee includes mild language, sexually suggestive humor, and references to sensitive topics like family issues and anxiety. Parental discretion is advised for younger audiences.
