Finally, Its Here !After years of secret desire, we are finally able to launch the first ever mountain bike event at John Forrest National Park.
Saturday the 28th of November @ 5pm
The 2026 Hardwood Full Moon XCM!
This race will draw on the history of the Famous PMBC Dusk till Dawn and the Jarrahdale Hardwood Full Moon to deliver a fun XCM event close to Perth to end the 2026 MTB season. It will be a race yes, but more importantly it will be a great fun way to get together with your mates, riding friends and the mtb community to see the year out.
This race will support Perth Moutain Bike Club to continue its long and historic commitment to supporting XCO racing, Junior Development and the running of the 2027 XCO season. So, when you enter you know where those hard-earned dollars you are spending are going to, right back into the heart of MTB in WA.
We have great sponsorship on board from Dan Holmes and his team at Crossroads Cycles in Carine. This includes a great prize bundle from Magic Shine Lights. To be in the draw for this prize you will need to be in the first 150 entries. So don’t delay and get your entry in, you can sort out your team down the track, yes teams are an option as you will see below.
More details will be updated as we get closer to the evetn. Keep an eye on our PMBC website and facebook pages

Team Details:
Every rider must enter individually, once you have your team together and you have all entered, please send your team name and participants to [email protected] with “Hardwood Team Details” in the email title.
Race License:
You must have an active Auscycling race license or day license to enter this event. A link below is included for those of you needing a day license, purchase this before you enter so you can get your day license number for entry.
Event Licences | Membership | AusCycling
If you do have an active race license, check it’s still valid on the date of the race. If for some reason you are being charged a day license ($44) and you are confident its active please email us and we will get Auscycling to check what is happening.
You will be required to provide proof of your current race license and or day license when you pick up your number plate so please ensure you have this with you.
Juniors:
We will except under 17 riders in duo teams either with an older rider or another Under 17. We will also consider under 15 riders in trio teams with older riders or other Under 15’s based on experience/capability, please reach out to the race director to discuss before entering!. There will be no solo entries excepted for junior riders, so we meet Auscycling race expectations.
(Junior age grades are based on your age at 31.12.26 with Under 15 being 13 to14 and Under 17 being 15 to16. There will be no entries excepted for riders under 13 in this race.)
Start Time & Lighting:
Race start time will be 5pm with an expected finish time of 9 to 9.30pm for the winners. So solo riders will require lights and dependent on your race plan some or all of you in teams will also require lights. Please ensure you have adequate lighting for riding and batteries to last the laps you will be doing in the dark. We strongly recommend a bar and helmet light for MTB riding to make your experience during the dark as good and safe as it can be.
Sunset on race day will be 7.04pm so plan around needing lights from approx. 6.45 onwards or maybe even a little earlier. If you have a team situation you can spread your expected laps around to suit your race plan.
We will not have bike light charging on site so please ensure as noted above you have fully charged batteries and they have the capacity to cover your expected laps.
Bike Rules:
There are no ebike or drop bar gravel bike categories in the race, all riders solo or in teams must be riding a traditionally powered flat bar mountain bike to meet the race rules.
Race Course:
The race village will run out of the new carpark and run down onto the heritage trail before taking in the full green loop of the Noolbenger trail then across and into a shorter abridged section of the south Noolbenger. Then a short run back up the heritage trail to the race village to either start a new lap or switch with a team mate.
We will release the race map closer to the event but for now you can go and ride the Noolbenger trail and you will have covered everything you will ride during the event.
Race/Lap Distance:
The race lap distance is 13.2km and is fast a flowy. It’s not super technical but it will be fast and remember this is about fun and getting out there with your mates. Being the first event, we are starting steady to encourage the land managers to have racing in the National Park.
Overall, the race distance is approx 80km’s over the six laps and we envisage the fastest riders or teams will complete the race in around four and a half hours.
Parking:
As we will be parking in the National park there is a $17 per car fee to park. This is paid onsite at the tap and go enabled machines, please ensure you do the right thing and pay so we are seen to be doing the right things folks. This money does go back into the park to maintain all the facilities including the mountain bike trails. So we encourage you all to carpool and share this cost. There is plenty of parking though if you choose to bring your own vehicle.
Race Village:
We have now secured permission for a licensed area in the Event Village for spectators or riders who have completed their laps to enjoy a tatsy beverage of choice.
We will also have a DJ playing some cool tunes to keep you entertained in between laps or if you providing rider support.
Cant wait to see you all there for a cracking evening of MTB racing and fun.
Regards
Chris Park & the PMBC Race Team
