About this Event
A Celebration of Compassion, Community & Gratitude!
Saturday, November 21, 2026
6:30–8:30 PM
First Unitarian Universalist Church of Houston
Join the UU Animal Ministry of Houston for a special Thanksliving celebration as we gather to give thanks, share delicious plant-based food, and celebrate kindness toward all living beings!
We'll provide delicious vegan holiday roasts and vegan pumpkin pies. Just bring your favorite plant-based side dish or beverage to share. Whether you're a longtime vegan or simply curious about plant-based living, everyone is welcome!
After dinner, we'll screen 73 Cows, the BAFTA Award-winning, 15-minute documentary that tells the moving true story of Jay Wilde, a British beef farmer who struggled with the emotional burden of sending animals he cared for to slaughter.
Driven by compassion, Jay and his wife Katja made an extraordinary decision: to save their herd of 73 cows and transform their farm into a plant-based operation.
This beautiful and inspiring film explores the courage it takes to follow your conscience and the profound connection between humans and animals.
Following the screening, we'll have a short group discussion about the film, compassion, and the choices we make to create a kinder world.
Come hungry, bring something to share, and leave inspired!
Let's celebrate a holiday where everyone—including the turkeys—has something to be thankful for! 🍁
