A creative project for young people working towards our Young People’s Art Gallery & Showcase on Saturday 5th December.
PART 3 — TEXTILES MAKING SESSION - £7
Bring your ideas and materials together in a practical textiles and sewing session.
Participants can choose what they would like to make based on their interests, experience and available materials.
Possible projects include:
- Upcycling clothing or textiles
- Simple bags and accessories
- Soft toys or other simple fabric projects
- Scrunchies and smaller projects using leftover fabric
- Developing a simple clothing project
- Creating or adapting a pattern
Participants will learn about cutting, construction, seams, hemming, using fabric efficiently and reducing textile waste.
The session will include guidance and demonstrations, with projects adapted to different ages and experience levels.
Participants may bring their own sewing materials, patterns or textiles. Any additional materials or optional resources will be confirmed before the session.
Please note: Sewing machines and other equipment are subject to availability. Participants should not assume that a particular machine or piece of equipment will be available unless confirmed in advance.
If you have booked Making Session 1:
Please book the free companion Making Session 2 ticket so we know you will be attending.
If you have not booked Making Session 1:
You may still participate in Making Session 2 by booking the £7 Making Session 2 ticket.
Please come prepared with your chosen project, fabric or upcycled item where applicable.
What you will need on the day:
- Fabric / upcycle clothes
- Sketchbook/notebook
- Pens/pencils
- Water bottle
5 December — Young People’s Art Gallery & Showcase
The project will culminate in a young people's gallery and showcase at North Harrow Community Library.
Over the coming weeks, participants will have the opportunity to create their own artwork, learn new artistic skills and develop pieces to display at the December showcase.
Participants will have the opportunity to display 4–6 pieces of artwork or 1-2 Textiles project.
Certificates will be provided to participating young artists.
Selling artwork will be optional.
The showcase is an opportunity to recognise the creativity, effort and skills developed by the young people throughout the project.
