NHG welcomes back popular speakers Carolyn Oldham and Jerri Kerr, our birding experts, to bring you into the mysteries that surround the owls that can be seen here in Texas.
Owls have played a magical part in the natural world for millions of years and continue to fascinate all nature lovers today. Get this informative look at the owls of North America with a special emphasis on the 4 species in our neighborhoods, plus a look at the other 15 species that appear in other parts of our state. Detailed will be their unique features, their interesting lives and their role as natural pest control. Included are identification tips including field marks and their calls, plus tips for attracting owls to your yard and how they manage insect populations for us. Carolyn Oldham and Jerri Kerr are avid birdwatchers and gardeners, focused on attracting birds, butterflies and bees to our landscapes. They are longtime members of the , and have traveled extensively in the United States as well as internationally to find cool birds to add to their life lists. Carolyn has been in the gardening business since 1993, including working 10 years at North Haven Gardens.
