The TAMU Trombone Choir and Horn Choir will perform a joint concert at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church which is located at 1001 Woodcreek Drive in College Station. The ensembles will perform music by Eric Ewazen, John Danziger, Amber Sheeran, Madeline Lee, Frank Ticheli and other composers. Dr. David Wilborn serves as the conductor of the TAMU Horn Choir. The trombone choir will premiere a special arrangement of Simple Song from “Mass” by Leonard Bernstein as conducted by Susan Meyer Patterson, band consultant and former band director from the Conroe Independent School District. The world premiere of Simple Song was arranged specifically for the choir by renown band arranger/composer, Merlin Patterson.
The concert will conclude with a big finale that combines both brass choirs on a performance of La Cathédrale by Madeline Lee. Dr. Lee wrote this moving work as a reaction to the dreadful fire that damaged the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. The music evokes the beauty, grandeur, and awe-inspiring architecture of the historic cathedral while also reflecting upon the tragedy of the fire that threatened to destroy this treasured landmark. Come join us for an evening of outstanding music, collaboration, and fun! The performance is free and open to the public.
