Energy, Materials and Environmental SustainabilityThis STEM professional learning session aims to support Secondary teachers to effectively deliver the new Science 7-10 Syllabus (2023) to the teach the Stage 5 Sustainability and Climate Change topics.
The PD will cover the Energy topic, namely, our global future energy needs, evaluate energy use and the development of alternate sources of energy. The PD will also cover Materials including resources, the nature of minerals extracted in Australia, and the environmental impact of resources extraction. The Sustainability topic will cover climate science, determine current trends, explain how the natural greenhouse effect influences global climate change, and analyse data and data collection to understand human-induced climate change and its effects on climate.
* The aim of the PD is to refresh and up-skill teachers in basic science.
* Present the science behind two Lesson Plans and activities using Australian examples and resources.
* The PD will be delivered by a qualified Earth scientist.
* Teacher Earth Science Education Programme Ltd (TESEP) is a NESA recognised PD provider.
Cost:
* $50.00 plus GST and booking fees per attendee for each session
