Tennessee Armed Guard Renewal Course

8-Hour Armed Security Guard Renewal Course
CourseTime: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
This 8-hour armed security guard renewal course provides the required classroom instruction, examination, firearms range training, qualification, and renewal application assistance. Instruction is conducted in accordance with the applicable Tennessee state curriculum and armed security guard renewal requirements.
Course ScheduleClassroom Training — 4 HoursStudents will receive instruction covering the required Tennessee renewal curriculum. Students are expected to actively participate, take notes, and complete the required course examination.
Range Training — 4 HoursStudents will complete the required firearms safety instruction, practical range training, and firearms qualification.
Course Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PMStudents should plan to remain at the training location for the entire scheduled course day.Required Student MaterialsStudents must bring:- Pencil or pen- Paper or notebook for taking notes- Valid government-issued identification- Required firearm and ammunition- Required range equipment- Eye protection- Hearing protection- Any additional equipment specified by the instructorStudents are expected to take notes throughout the classroom portion of the course.
Required ExaminationStudents are required to successfully complete the required course examination following classroom instruction.The examination covers material presented during the course and applicable Tennessee requirements. Students should come prepared to listen, take notes, participate in instruction, and successfully complete the examination.Renewal Application AssistanceAs part of the renewal process, students will receive assistance with completing the required state renewal application.
The instructor/academy will assist students with:- Completing the necessary state renewal application- Reviewing required application information- Uploading/submitting necessary application materials- Taking the required application photograph, when applicable- Providing guidance through the renewal submission processState Application FeesStudents are responsible for all state-required application, renewal, licensing, or other fees charged by the State of Tennessee.Course tuition does not include state application or renewal fees unless specifically stated otherwise.
Range Gear & AttireStudents must arrive properly equipped and dressed for live-fire training.Required Range Attire- Closed-toe shoes- Long pants- Shirt with sleeves- Appropriate clothing for safe movement and firearms training- Eye protection- Hearing protectionA hat or cap and a higher-collar shirt are recommended for outdoor range training to provide additional protection from sun and spent brass.Required Range EquipmentStudents should bring the firearm, ammunition, magazines, holster, magazine carriers, belt, and other equipment required for their qualification and as directed by the instructor.All firearms and equipment must be in safe working condition.Attendance & Course CreditFull attendance is required. Students must attend the entire scheduled course from 8:00 AM through 5:00 PM and complete all required classroom, examination, and range components.Partial attendance will not count toward course credit.Leaving the course early, arriving late, or missing a required portion of the training may result in the student being unable to receive credit for completion of the renewal course.Students should plan accordingly and make arrangements to remain available for the entire training day.
Successful Course CompletionTo successfully complete the course, students must:1. Attend the required instruction in its entirety.2. Participate in the required classroom curriculum.3. Complete the required course examination.4. Complete the required firearms range training.5. Successfully complete the required firearms qualification.6. Complete the necessary renewal application process.7. Satisfy any applicable Tennessee requirements for renewal.Course completion and state renewal approval are separate processes.
Completion of the training course does not guarantee approval of a student's state renewal application. Final renewal approval is determined by the appropriate Tennessee state authority.Course ReminderArrive prepared. Take notes. Complete the examination. Qualify on the range.
