Ontario has officially passed a historic law banning most invasive medical research on dogs and cats! Because labs can no longer conduct most invasive medical research on dogs and cats once the law takes effect on January 1, 2027, they must give surviving animals a second chance at life. Animal Justice is aware of at least six labs in Ontario that have recently experimented on dogs or cats.
We wrote to these labs, urging them to have compassion and commit to rehoming any dogs and cats before the January 1 deadline, and offered to help. Many refused to meet, or to commit to a rehoming plan.
Now, animal advocates are taking action! We're organizing protests across Ontario to demand that these labs rehome surviving dogs and cats instead of killing them.
Join us at Queen’s University to urge decision makers to commit to a rehoming plan. With multiple rescue groups already prepared to house dogs and cats from these labs, there is no excuse for them not to do the right thing.
This landmark provincial ban was won after Animal Justice exposed secret dog cardiac experiments at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London, Ontario.
Join us at Queen’s University on November 7 to make sure every lab dog and cat possible gets placed into a loving home!
