About this Event
This exhibition explores how commercial advertising and iconic brands helped shapeteenage and youth culture in Britain today, looking at how post-WW2 advertisers targetedyoung people through music, fashion, leisure and lifestyle products.
‘The teenager is one of the great inventions of the twentieth century, and advertising wasone of its principal architects. What makes this exhibition so unique is that it uses historicadvertising not just as illustration, but as primary evidence: these campaigns tell us asmuch about the society that produced them as they do about the products they wereselling.’ Dr David Clampin, History of Advertising Trust
