Teaching for Belonging
An Intercultural Collaborative Design Forum for Meaningful and Engaged Learning


Facilitated by University of Melbourne in partnership withAshoka University and Savitribai Phule Pune University

The Forum will move from critical dialogue and reflection on Day One to collaborative co-design and future-focused action on Day Two, creating a shared space for pedagogical exchange across Australian and Indian higher education contexts.

Dates: November 17 and 18, 2026

Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

(with 1-hour lunch break)

(light morning tea, lunch, and light afternoon refreshment provided)

Venue: Melbourne Global Centre, Delhi

Who should attend: Educators, academic developers, researchers, PhD scholars and selected students from diverse disciplines and Australian and Indian higher education institutions interested in intercultural exchange and co-designing meaningful, inclusive, and belonging-oriented approaches to teaching and learning.

Certificate of Participation will be presented upon successful completion of and contribution to the Forum

The Forum Teaching for Belonging explores how higher education can foster participation, connection, belonging, and meaningful engagement in an age of AI and digitally mediated learning.Across two days, participants will:


  • Examine how identity, positionality, language, and cultural capital shape participation and belonging.
  • Explore how AI and digitally mediated learning environments are reshaping student engagement and relational learning.
  • Exchange practices and perspectives across disciplines, institutions, and cultural contexts.
  • Co-design future-focused approaches to inclusive, culturally responsive, relational, and human-centred learning.
  • Identify opportunities for ongoing research, pedagogical innovation, student engagement, and intercultural collaboration.


Participants will leave with resources for their teaching practices, along with an international network for future collaboration, and opportunities for scholarly publications.
