Tavola Aperta is our monthly invitation to pull up a chair to eat, drink, and chat. This month, we'll be joined by Kathy Curto, in collaboration with the Italian American Writers Association, for a writing workshop!

What does Tavola Aperta mean? Tavola aperta is an Italian phrase that means “open table.” It refers to a specific social and cultural practice of keeping a table open to guests. People can arrive without a formal invitation. The host feeds whoever comes. The emphasis is on inclusion and hospitality rather than planning.
Who is it for? Anyone and everyone interested in Italian-American culture.
Who are we? We're PIACE, the Progressive Italian American Cultural Exchange. Our mission is to move Italian-American culture from preservation to production through community building and hands-on programming that brings heritage into dialogue with contemporary conditions. Unlike heritage groups that center on the past, we contest dominant narratives and redefine Italian-American culture as something being made now, together.
