About this Event
Specialty coffee has spent decades building language and protocol around our craft: cupping, scoring, origin, and process of coffees. Milk sits outside all of that, even though it's often most of what's actually in the cup.
Tasting Milk Like We Taste Coffee is a hands-on session that aims to change that. We'll do a guided blind tasting of dairy and plant milks, plain and in coffee, using shared vocabulary. You'll have a chance to steam and taste milks from different producers and brands. Bring your own coffee if you'd like! We'll also talk about what drives milk choices behind the counter versus what drives it for our customers, and discuss the trends and role of milk in specialty coffee going forward.
Who should attend: Baristas, café owners, coffee or plant milk enthusiasts.
Skill Level: All. No barista experience required—just a willingness to taste and experiment.
Instructor: Marie Franklin
