Tango as Dialogue: Weight, Listening & Shared Movement with JESSICA GERDEL (VEN\/ARG)

A tango workshop for contact improvisation and contactango dancers (or anyone else) curious to explore Tango Argentino through the lens of listening, weight exchange and shared movement.
Contrary to the common assumption that Tango Argentino is based on figures and choreography, it is a dance of improvisation, dialogue and freedom within an embrace.
In this workshop we'll investigate grounding, axis, weight transfer, connection, direction, responsiveness, and how these principles can create a genuine dialogue between two bodies.
Through individual explorations, partner exercises and tango-based improvisation, we’ll explore the space between intention and response, structure and freedom.
No previous tango or contact improvisation experience required, just curiosity.
Come explore Tango Argentino as a way of meeting another body in motion.

------
JESSICA GERDEL is a Venezuelan-Argentinean Tango Argentino certified teacher and movement researcher based in Vienna. Her work brings together tango, somatic awareness and movement exploration, with a particular focus on connection, adaptability and embodied learning.
Rather than treating tango as a collection of figures, Jessica explores the principles underneath them: how bodies organize movement, communicate intention, share the space and create something together in real time.
Her teaching is rooted in tango and somatic practices while remaining curious about other practices and questions that emerge when different movement languages meet.
You can learn more about her at jessicagerdel.com and find her on Instagram and Facebook as Abrazatango.
