🫔 TAMALITOS DE BARRO | DÍA DE MUERTOS WORKSHOP 🕯️
Join us at The Goddess Mercado Bazaar on Saturday, October 24 from 6–8 PM for a meaningful hands-on clay workshop led by Oaxacan artist Martha Alicia Cruz Jiménez.
Together, we’ll create tamalitos de barro (clay tamales) as we begin preparing for Día de Muertos. This workshop is an invitation to slow down, create with our hands, share stories, and connect with the memories, traditions, and people we carry with us.
All attendees will have the opportunity to experience Chocolate Caliente Oaxaqueño.
About the Artist
Martha Alicia Cruz Jiménez is an artist from Oaxaca who has called Los Angeles home for the past three years. Her work explores childhood, womanhood, motherhood, migration, and the body we inhabit.
Her characters and sculptures weave together stories of maíz, fantastical animals, the four elements, life, death, food, and poetry.
Martha is also the founder of Tierra Mariposa, a creative space in Santa Cruz Papalutla dedicated to nurturing creativity among children in the community. Through her clay practice, she creates spaces where we can reflect on memories, grief, and healing while connecting our emotions and hearts with our hands.
This workshop will be a space to create, remember, share, and honor as we prepare for Día de Muertos. 🕯️🌽💀

Light snacks and refresments will be served. No prior clay experience is necessary. Come as you are and leave with something made by your own hands. 🤎
