Join us for an informative presentation by Dr. Jim Jacobs, TCSD Board member, hydrogeologist, and research fellow at UC Santa Cruz, on how rising groundwater, high tides, and sea-level rise contribute to flooding in coastal communities.
Dr. Jacobs will share findings from his research in Tam Valley, Manzanita, and other Bay Area communities, including how groundwater can rise from below the surface and contribute to flooding even when water does not overtop the shoreline.
The presentation will also explore how groundwater monitoring can help communities better understand flood risks and plan for the future.
